Brian Lindstrom
Brian Lindstrom is a Portland-based documentary filmmaker whose work explores personal transformation and resilience. His award-winning feature Finding Normal follows individuals in early recovery as they rebuild their lives with the help of formerly incarcerated mentors, earning accolades and screening in theaters, prisons, and festivals across the Pacific Northwest. A first-generation college graduate, Brian holds an MFA in directing and screenwriting from Columbia University. His films have aired on PBS and French television and are distributed by Pyramid Media and Third World Newsreel. He has received grants from organizations such as the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Regional Arts & Culture Council. Since 1994, Brian has taught in the Northwest Film Center’s Young Filmmakers Program, using storytelling to empower at-risk youth. He lives in Portland with his wife, author Cheryl Strayed, and their two children.
