Lola Frears
Rational Behavior
Lola Frears grew up in London and got her BA from Drama Centre London, then an MsT in creative writing from Oxford University. She began reading scripts for various production companies before taking a job in script development at Leftbank Pictures where she worked for five years. She directed a comedy one-woman show called SPINSTER, written and performed by Gabriella Rankin, which took to the Edinburgh fringe. She wrote and directed a show called THE BOX with actress Katie West for HOME in Manchester. She also directed various short plays for the PENCIL DRIVE nights at the Bussey Building in Peckham. Lola was awarded a place on the Williamstown Theatre apprentice programme in Massachusetts during which she directed various shows. Lola has also developed various TV series’ as a writer - REASONABLE DOUBT,
a courtroom drama optioned by Baby Cow Productions, THE NEUTRAL PROJECT, a psychological thriller optioned by Carnival Films and FETCH, a comedy drama, co-written with playwright Chris Urch, currently under option by Clerkenwell Films. She is co-writing a feature project at financing stage with Fifth Season and Magical Thinking Pictures. It is an adaption of Ella Berman’s THE COMEBACK to be directed by Romola Garai and Emilia Clarke attached to star. Lola has Written and directed Rational Behaviour (the short) through Life to Live Films and while it’s on its festival journey, Lola has been writing the FEATURE.
