Introducing… The Intermission
Angel Garcia
The best part of the festival is always the conversations we have about the films. With over 75 filmmakers scheduled to attend, the Q&As after each screening will be rich and rewarding.
But that’s just the beginning.
Every day of the festival, The Intermission on Taylor Street provides a chance for everyone at the festival, and the community as a whole, to gather together and talk about the films they’ve seen and the films to come. Music, food, drink, and an openness to striking up a conversation make these early evening breaks some of our favorite moments of the whole weekend.
5:30pm - 7:30pm each day - FREE and open to the public
Fri - Filmmaker Parade - Celebrate these visiting artists with the wonderful wackiness that is PT!
Sat - SpiderMonkey Beats - Featuring CA-based Latin Electronica artist Angel Garcia
Sun - DJ David Bonobo - PT’s own LA-transplant, featuring Rare Groove, Pan-African, and Latin-Electronica beats

Loretta Atkins and Martha Trolin
Long-time supporters of the Festival, Loretta Atkins and Martha Trolin, have issued a challenge to all who love this special Port Townsend experience. Donate before the end of August, and they will match your donation up to $5,000!
Their reasons for supporting PTFF are simple and clear, and shared by so many:
"It's our favorite festival of the year. Each time, we leave the experience changed. We learned something new. We understand something more deeply. We feel something more keenly."
From the films themselves, to the filmmakers’ descriptions of their motivations, to the connections built when you walk out of the movie talking about it with the former strangers who sat next to you, we know the experience of PTFF makes a lasting impact.

Why do you support the Port Townsend Film Festival?
PTFF weekend is my favorite weekend of the year in Port Townsend. I moved to town the year Tony Curtis was the festival’s special guest, and I remember thinking, “I love this town already”. But my favorite PTFF memory is the year Peter Fonda was here, the same weekend as a Harley convention at the Fairgrounds. It was blazing hot, the sound of Harleys carried across town, and Fonda actually walked out to greet the bikers. The whole town felt electric and magical that weekend, that’s the kind of energy this festival brings, and why I support it.
What movie had a big impact on you? Why?
As a lifelong movie buff, so many films have touched me over the years. But my favorite always comes back to Armageddon. It has everything a movie should have - Bruce Willis saving the world, an asteroid looming to destroy the earth, space travel, a love story, and a killer Aerosmith song. It’s funny, it’s sad, and it ends with the earth being saved. It doesn’t get any better than that.
