Asia Johnson

Asia Johnson is a formerly incarcerated writer, poet, and filmmaker whose work explores justice, storytelling, and social change. A Right of Return Fellow and recipient of fellowships and grants from the Brennan Center for Justice, Art for Justice, and the Highland Project, she made her directorial debut with Out of Place in 2022. Johnson is the Manager of Storytelling and Media Productions at Zealous, an organization dedicated to justice reform through film and digital media, and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law. She studied Criminal Justice and Film at the University of Michigan–Dearborn.
