PT Filmworld News

PT represented at Cannes!

We’re applauding from home as movie mover-and-shaker D.D. Wigley accompanies the film Death Has No Master on which she is an Executive Producer as it screens at the Cannes Film Festival. Written and directed by Jorge Thieland Armand. PTFF’s connections to Armand also include Mo Scarpelli, who many in town may remember as one of our first Filmmakers in Residence as she and Alexandria Bombach spent over a month working on a documentary in an apartment on Water Street. Jorge and Mo worked together on El Father Plays Himself

George Marie, co-owner of The Rose, is attending as well, connecting with international titles that might be of particular interest to Port Townsend audiences and fine-tuning her French language skills. Congratulations to them both on this fantastic adventure!

VIVA VERDI! — A Celebration of Music and Passion at Every Age

Join us in the QUUF Sanctuary on May 16 for a private showing of this joyful, inspiring, and uplifting documentary—first featured at last year’s Port Townsend Film Festival.

$15 tickets are still available for Viva Verdi! and will be sold after the service on May 3 and 10.

Enjoy Italian cookies and tea at 2:30pm, with the film beginning at 3pm. Viva Verdi! (Oscar-nominated for Best Original Song) offers an intimate glimpse into renowned opera singers and musicians living their “third act” at Milan’s Casa Verdi. Ages 77 to 103, these artists show that time only deepens their love of music and passion for creative life.  Not to be missed!

Friends of the Fest Update

Former staff member, Keith Hitchcock, and his wife Mary are launching a project all about helping our local community discover the world of craft non-alcoholic (NA) drinks. It’s called Vivid Sip Club. VSC’s initial events are guided tastings, where people can learn about the expanding universe of NA beverages and get free samples of curated NA drinks that we in Port Townsend don't have easy access to. We’re raising a glass to Vivid Sip Club!

Our volunteer community now has its own newsletter - made up of over 500 folks and growing! It’s a space to celebrate film, learn more about your fellow volunteers, and get a peek at what opportunities are coming this spring and summer. If you’re curious what we’re getting into, create a volunteer account below to receive updates and join us.

Save the date!
27th Annual Port Townsend Film Festival is Sept 24-27, 2026
