FUSHIGI & THE BROKEN PLANET - Fundraiser

不思議 (Fushigi) – mysterious, strange, enchanting in a way that invites curiosity.

The Production Alliance and PTFF invite you to a presentation and fundraiser for an exciting new film project being born here in Port Townsend.

Tuesday, May 19, 2026 - 6:30 -8:00 PM - PTFF Office/Balcony Theatre 211 Taylor Street, Suite 401A Port Townsend

This project is part of a broader vision to establish a sustainable creative presence on the Peninsula. By laying the groundwork now-with connections, collaborators, and momentum-it creates a foundation for future projects: short films, workshops, and production hub.

The team aims to not just make a film, but to plant the seeds of an artistic ecosystem-where local talent have more access to career building opportunities, and the Peninsula becomes known as a fertile ground for bold, imaginative storytelling.

What Are Laurels? Why Bull Kelp?

Laurels are standard symbols of recognition and achievement for both films and film festivals.

PTFF chose the bull kelp as our artistic interpretation of this film industry standard which helps distinguish us from the crowd.

Why bull kelp?

Along our shores, bull kelp survives not by resisting the sea, but by moving with it—holding fast to rock while rising toward light through constant motion. In stormy weather, its long strands bend instead of break, gathering into living forests that nurture, shelter, and sustain a diverse ecosystem.

So too does a resilient community endure: rooted in shared values, lifted by imagination, and strengthened through connection. Like bull kelp suspended together beneath the surface, we are carried by common currents—buoyant not alone, because we gather and rise with and for one another.

PTFF is grateful for the opportunity to add resilience, to nurture, to strengthen, and to help sustain our Port Townsend community through film.

Much like the pollinators visiting your rhododendrons, our volunteer crew is already buzzing!

Volunteers help make every part of PTFF possible, and they even have a newsletter of their own to stay connected between events. Last week, we were excited to spotlight longtime volunteer Ann Yee, who we can thank for helping shape this year’s Opening Night Gala.

If you’ve ever thought about joining, creating a volunteer account is a great way to get to know the community before signing up for a shift. You’ll receive updates, invitations, and all the information you need to buzz in when you’re ready 🐝
