La Bamba
La Bamba is a 1987 American biographical drama film written and directed by Luis Valdez. The film follows the life and short-lived musical career of American Chicano rock and roll star Ritchie Valens. The film stars Lou Diamond Phillips as Valens, Esai Morales, Rosanna DeSoto, Elizabeth Peña, Danielle von Zerneck and Joe Pantoliano. The film also covers the effect that Valens' career had on the lives of his half-brother Bob Morales, his girlfriend Donna Ludwig, and the rest of his family. The film is titled after a traditional Mexican folk song of the same name, which Valens transformed into a rock and roll rendition in 1958.
Coco
A Boy Who Dreams Of Becoming A Great Musician…
embarks on an extraordinary journey to the magical land of his ancestors. There, the charming trickster Hector becomes an unexpected friend who helps Miguel uncover the mysteries behind his family’s stories and traditions.
“Coco” is about family, connecting with loved ones and pursuing your dreams. And according to director Lee Unkrich, it’s all rooted in music. “‘Coco’ has music in its DNA,” says Unkrich. “Music shapes the film. Some characters are musicians, while others want nothing to do with it.”
Stand and Deliver
Edward James Olmos stars as Jaime Escalante in this inspirational true story about a teacher and the unmotivated East Los Angeles high school students who he inspires, badgers, threatens and humors into learning the most demanding of all math sciences--calculus.
But the accomplishment is so utterly fantastic that the students are accused of cheating. Given a choice to accept the allegation or retake an extremely demanding examination to prove themselves, the students decide to Stand And Deliver.
Edward James Olmos received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
Stand and Deliver is a 1988 American biographical comedy-drama film about Jaime Escalante, a mathematics teacher who inspires his students to excel in calculus. The film is based on true events and highlights themes of perseverance and education.

Ever wondered what it’s like to experience PTFF from the inside?
Each year, our visiting filmmakers, presenters, and special guests travel from around the world to share their stories with Port Townsend audiences. Many of the most meaningful Festival connections begin around a breakfast table, backyard conversation, or late-night chat after a screening.
We’re currently seeking Homestay Hosts for the September Festival (Sep 24-27) and occasional year-round guest visits. If you have a cottage, ADU, guest apartment, or even a spare room, you could play a direct role in welcoming artists to our community while experiencing the Festival from an entirely new perspective.|
