SAY HELLO TO OUR NEW STAFF MEMBER!!

We are thrilled to introduce Leah Manley, PTFF’s new Community Relations Manager. Leah will be coordinating volunteers, managing our office, and heading up our box office, among other things.

Get to know Leah a bit better…

Leah (she/they) began her film career in 2019 as the lead projectionist for the Rose Theatre, where she prepared and tested all of the films that screened there and at the Starlight Room.

Leah’s favorite film: Leah’s favorite films explore complex friendships and the self-discovery resulting from them. Most recently, she has cherished The Eight Mountains

Leah’s favorite thing about Port Townsend: How walkable and pedestrian-friendly the city is. Also, visiting the whale on the wharf!

Something else: When she’s not absorbed in films, you can find Leah developing her sewing skills, identifying blooms around the neighborhood, or seeking out the best campsite on the Olympic Peninsula.

DO YOU KNOW A FILM STAR?

Port Townsend Film Festival has enjoyed many famous special guests over the years—Danny Glover, Tony Curtis, Cloris Leachman, Peter Fonda, and Debra Winger—just to name a few.

Almost all of our past guests were invited via a connection to someone in Port Townsend. Maybe YOU are our new connection! Help us plan for the future and build PTFF's network within our own cinephile community. We'd love to hear about your film star connection, and please know that we will treat this information with sensitivity.

Do you know a film celebrity? Let us know. We’d love to hear from you.

Our “GIVEsmall” Fundraiser May 20-29!

We'll be asking our community to think of each small donation like a popcorn kernel—when combined, they create something delicious to share. Our goal is raising $5,000 through donations big and small to support the September Film Festival.

Every kernel counts! Join us in “popping” into action with a gift of any size during this 10-day campaign. Your generosity allows us to keep serving up an incredible festival in our 25th year.

Stay tuned for details on getting involved!

Cinema Paradiso is the beautiful, enchanting story of a young boy’s lifelong love affair with the movies. Set in an Italian village, Salvatore finds himself enchanted by the flickering images at the Cinema Paradiso, yearning for the secret of the cinema’s magic. When the projectionist, Alfredo, agrees to reveal the mysteries of moviemaking, a deep friendship is born. The day comes for Salvatore to leave the village and pursue his dream of making movies of his own. Thirty years later he receives a message that beckons him back home to a secret and beautiful discovery that awaits him.

That’s a wrap for this time. Sending a quick shout out to Port Townsend Chautauqua and the Rhody Fest. Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for tuning in!
